In addition to securing grant funding for city projects, the City of Greenwood seeks to link residents and business owners to grant opportunities whenever possible. There are many resources for grant funding from government entities, non-profit corporations, and private foundations.

Economic Development

Several government agencies offer grants and incentives to businesses who create jobs and increase tax revenues for the State of Mississippi. The Mississippi Development Authority provides incentives to all types and classifications of businesses.

Housing

For qualified applicants, housing assistance is available from several sources in Mississippi. The Greenwood Housing Authority has several programs to help low- and moderate-income residents receive affordable housing.

The Mississippi Development Authority provides loans for developers of affordable single-family housing. In addition, the Mississippi Home Corporation provides downpayment assistance funds for qualified homebuyers in Mississippi.

From time to time, the City of Greenwood and Leflore County receive grant funding for the rehabilitation or reconstruction of code-deficient housing. Check this page for the availability of local affordable housing programs.

Small Businesses

Small businesses in the Greenwood community benefit from marketing assistance offered to members of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Greenwood. The Greenwood Economic Development Foundation can also help you with certain aspects of your business startup.
