Crime Stoppers

About Crime Stoppers USA

Crime Stoppers programs are non-profit organizations led by local citizens against crime in their communities. Crime Stoppers offers anonymity to those who provide information about crime and may pay rewards when that information leads to arrest. The program has been widely successful—the average conviction rate is about 95%.

Coordinator

Greenwood's Crime Stoppers law enforcement coordinator is Detective James Layton. The coordinator works under the director of the Chief of Police and serves as liaison with the Board of Directors and with the media. He processes intelligence and coordinates it with the appropriate law enforcement agency personnel, in addition to maintaining records, manning the Crime Stoppers phone, and educating others about the importance of the organization.

Board of Directors

Directors generally oversee the program. They establish policy, determine reward payments, and work closely with law enforcement and the media.
